Capitals Quiz

How many capital cities can you actually name? This capitals quiz asks the question straight: what is the capital of France, of Kazakhstan, of Palau? You get four candidate cities per question and ten questions per game, drawn from 195+ countries across every continent.
The mix is deliberately uneven. Some questions feel like free points, and then the quiz hands you Burkina Faso or Micronesia and the free points end. Capitals are a moving target too: countries move them, rename them, or keep an official capital that nobody outside government visits. Playing a few rounds is the quickest way to find the gaps in what you learned at school.
Wrong answers immediately reveal the correct capital, so a missed question costs you a point but leaves you with the fact. Games take about two minutes, work on any phone or laptop, and never ask you to register. When ten questions per round stop being enough, Time Attack in the same engine lets you answer as many capital questions as you can in sixty seconds, and the world capitals reference page lists every country and capital in one table you can study before your next attempt.
How to play
- Press Play. Each question names a country and offers four cities.
- Tap the city you think is the capital. Correct answers turn green instantly.
- After ten questions, see your score out of ten, then share it or start a new round.
Frequently asked questions
How many countries does the capitals quiz cover?
All 195+ countries in our dataset, from the obvious ones to microstates like San Marino and Palau. Each round samples ten of them at random.
Are trick capitals included, like Australia or Turkey?
Yes. Canberra, Ankara, Brasília, Ottawa and the other famous traps appear regularly. Cities like Sydney or Istanbul show up as wrong options exactly because so many people pick them.
Is this capitals quiz free?
Yes, five games per day are free on each device with no account. Premium removes the limit and opens every quiz mode.
Can I limit questions to one continent?
The Regional Quiz mode does exactly that: pick Europe, Asia, Africa or another region and get capitals from that region only. It is part of the premium mode set with a free three-question preview.
What happens when I answer wrong?
The correct capital is highlighted right away, and the question keeps counting toward your final score. You learn the fact on the spot instead of hunting for it later.
