Sixty seconds on the clock, one question on the screen: what is the capital of this country? Answer it and the next country appears immediately, and the next, and the next, until the timer hits zero. Time Attack is the speed test of CapitalsQuiz — the same rules as our iOS app, where it is one of the most replayed modes.
The deck never runs dry. Questions are drawn from all 195+ countries and reshuffle endlessly, so the only limit is how fast you can read, decide and tap. There is no time bonus for correct answers and no penalty for wrong ones beyond the seconds you wasted: the clock just runs, which makes every hesitation expensive. Your score is simply the number of capitals you get right before the buzzer.
That design makes Time Attack the best measure of real fluency. In an untimed quiz you can reason your way to Ouagadougou; here you either know it or you don’t. Most players land between 10 and 20 correct answers in a round; passing 25 takes genuine recall speed. Warm up in the classic Capitals Quiz where nobody is counting seconds, then come back and watch the timer turn a familiar subject into a completely different game.
How to play
- Press Play. The 60-second timer starts with the first capital question.
- Answer as fast as you can — each correct pick is a point, and a new question loads instantly.
- When the timer hits zero, see how many you got right and replay to beat your best.
Frequently asked questions
How long is a time attack round?
Exactly 60 seconds, the same as in the CapitalsQuiz iOS app. The timer never pauses, and the round ends the moment it reaches zero.
Do correct answers add time?
No. There is no time bonus and no penalty: the clock simply counts down from 60, so your score is a pure measure of speed and knowledge.
Is the time attack quiz free?
Yes, it is a free mode. Each round uses one of your five free daily games; a premium subscription removes the limit.
What counts as a good time attack score?
Ten correct answers is solid, fifteen is strong, and anything above twenty-five means you genuinely know your capitals cold.
Can the questions run out before the timer?
No. The country deck reshuffles endlessly, exactly like the iOS version, so there is always a next question until time expires.
