Somewhere out there is a country that has won the most Nobel Prizes in Literature and produces 1.7 billion bottles of wine a year. Another one has more pyramids than Egypt. The fun facts quiz hands you one such fact at a time and four countries to pin it on — ten facts per round, drawn from a deck that covers all 195+ countries.

Every country in the dataset carries exactly one hand-picked fact, the same set that ships in our iOS app, so the deck ranges from geography and records to history and pure trivia oddities. Some facts practically name their country; others are chosen precisely because the obvious guess is wrong. That mix is what makes the mode dangerous: confidence and correctness part ways more often here than in any other quiz on the site.

Fun Facts is a premium mode with a free preview — the first three questions of each round are free, and subscribing opens complete rounds along with every other premium mode. Misses show the right country instantly, which converts each surprise into a keeper. It is the natural companion to the language quiz and currency quiz on the facts side of the site, while the capitals quiz and flags quiz cover the classics for free.

How to play

  1. Press Play. A fact appears with four country names below it.
  2. Pick the country you think the fact describes; the right answer lights up green.
  3. Play the three-question free preview, or subscribe for full ten-question rounds.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the facts come from?

Each of the 195+ countries carries one curated fact from the same dataset as the CapitalsQuiz iOS app, covering records, history, nature and trivia.

Is the fun facts quiz free?

It is a premium mode with a free preview: three questions of every round are free, and a subscription opens full rounds plus all 13 quiz modes.

Are the facts real?

Yes. Every fact is a genuine claim about its country — the fun is that the truth often sounds less plausible than the wrong options.

Do facts repeat between rounds?

Each country has one fact, so a fact can reappear in a later round — but with 195+ in the deck and ten per game, repeats stay rare.
